In the Garden: July

Herbs and mesclun Green beans image Tiny cucumber Sungolds Stargazer lilies

The garden is thriving in July. The peas are done (many handfuls were eating right off the vine, and many stir fries made), but I planted green beans in that bed that are almost ready to be picked. I’m considering planting another round of peas so we can enjoy them in the fall.as well. I ate my first cucumber from the garden and it was delicious- the pickling kinds are my favorite since their seeds don’t get too big and they are so crunchy! I alms had my first tomato sandwich (tomato basil bread, pesto with basil from the garden, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese melted over top) with some of my cherry tomatoes cut in half. They are so sweet this time of year. In addition to what I’ve grown, I’ve also been eating tons of lettuce, Swiss chard, and summer squash from my mom’s garden. I’m so lucky, as she loads up my car with so much fresh organic produce every time I visit.

That is mostly all I have for garden updates- I’m just enjoying all the planting I did earlier in the year!
