A New Englander in Maryland: Walks in the Woods

We brought the dog to Maryland when we went over Christmas, which meant that I spent a lot of time going for walks. The woods are so different there than what I’m used to. Firstly, the trees seem so young- none looks more than 30 years old. They are mostly pine and fir trees instead of the mix of fir, maple, oak, and birch that I’m used to. Walking is such a good way to experience a new place, and I was glad for the fresh air and exercise especially during the Christmas eating season.
