Hamlen Woods in Wayland, MA

Isla is an adventure dog. She loves trips and new trails, so we bring her with us whenever we can. This means that wherever we go I’m always looking for trails or dog parks.

We were visiting friends and family in Boston and the suburbs last weekend and a little research led me to Hamlen Woods, which is a conservation area in Wayland just by I-90. It’s just over 80 acres with swamps, forest, and lots of rock. It was very quiet early on Saturday morning except for the highway noises. It was very odd to feel like I was in the middle of nowhere but still be able to hear the highway. I wandered with the dog for about an hour and a half, and I found that the trails I came across were not on the official map- I just tried to remember which way I had turned and we made it back just fine. For a nice walk that makes you feel like you have escaped the suburbs, I recommend checking it out.
