SuzyQ Dougnuts in Ottawa

I went up north recently to Ottawa to visit an old friend, and knowing of our mutual love of doughnuts, she took me to SuzyQ

It’s in Hintonburg, which is a nice area to wander around- lots of shops and a number of people out on the weekend, but not so many you feel crowded.

There was a crowd at SuzyQ however- the line went right out the door! The doughnuts are based of the traditional Finnish Sugar Munkki, but they definitely have put a modern twist on the flavor options. We couldn’t see which doughnuts were available until we got inside, then there was some furious discussion until we settled on 6 to share. We ended up with the traditional, salted caramel, lime coconut, wunderbar, orange creamsicle, and jam filled.

As soon as we had the precious box, we went outside to test taste. I went for the wunderbar, which was delicious. It was chocolatey and peanut buttery and doughy and wonderful.

I highly recommend SuzyQ if you visit Ottawa! And don’t be put off by the line- it moves quickly.
