Mountain Biking at Bear Brook

A few weekends ago, I spent a very hot and humid afternoon mountain biking at Bear Brook State Park in Allenstown, NH. Located just outside of Concord, it’s easy to get to and the parcel of land is huge- 10,000 acres!

They are multi use trails, so bikers, horses, and hikers all share, but we only saw a couple of people out there. We rode for 3 hours on a mix of single track, double track, and fired roads and only covered a small portion of the trails.

The one downside to the trails being so spread a part was that carrying enough water was a challenge, especially on a day in the 90s. Around the 2 hour mark I checked my camelback and saw that I had drunk nearly 2 liters already. We didn’t see any source of drinkable water on the map so were forced to go all the way back to the car to get more.

Still, it was a great afternoon ride. My favorite trails might have been the Little Bear and Big Bear combo- it was so much fun we did it twice.
